Industry Transformation Map (ITM) is a strategy made by the Singapore government to support industry transformation. To rise from the economic downturn because of the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2023, the government launched the refreshed ITM for five sectors from the Advances Manufacturing & Trade cluster. Gan Kim Young, Minister of Trade and Industry, declared the Professionals Service Industry Transformation Map 2025 on 28th February 2023.
This ITM is expected to grow the professional service industry by 3 or 4 per cent annually and reach S$27 billion by 2050. This procedure includes a new updated plan to strengthen Singapore’s business industry. In 2023, they will create 100.000 jobs in Singapore’s modern service cluster for the professional services industry. Company headquarters and professional firms collaborate with governments to provide legal, accounting, consulting, financial services, infocomm technology and media.
Modern service is the only sub-committee in this cluster with three industries: professional services, ICT & media (ICM) and financial services. ICM’s ITM is made so all sectors can prepare for the digital economy. Companies can invest in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity. As one of the learning centres engaged in IT and business, ITEL provides some courses for this role, such as big data and cloud courses, CISCO, CISSP, CompTIA and EC-Council.
One of the steps the government takes for ITM 2025 is to work with stakeholders to help Singaporeans improve their skills and career in this sector. The government has mentioned collaboration with various educational institutions, including accredited learning centres.
